On Friday 23rd January 2009, pupils and staff from Ayloff Primary and Dunningford Primary came together to work on a range of exciting projects including animation, film-making, podcasting, digital image manipulation and creating comic books. The children and staff had a fantastic time, supported by the HIAS ICT Team and Apple Education Specialist Julian Coultas – http://juliancs-blog.blogspot.com/.
The intention is for the pupils from both Ayloff and Dunningford to work on the Apple Macs in their own schools and then come together to share outcomes and to collaborate on other projects – including making a stopframe animation and a digital comic book.
The children and staff had a great day working together and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work together. Apple Educator Julian Coultas commented that, “I was amazed at the amount that we achieved, it was more than I would have expected in just one day.”
Apple have seeded a number of Macbook laptops, software and peripherals into Havering via the Havering Inspection and Advisory ICT Team The HIAS ICT Team are delighted to be able to use the equipment to support teaching and learning in Havering schools. They would like to thank Richard Ayre, Vice-Principal of the Brittons Technology College for his excellent support in helping to bring this equipment to Havering. As part of the package the HIAS ICT Team will be trained as Apple iLife Educators, in order to enable them to support schools further.
